The Scantic River Artisans is an organization filled with creative, vibrant artists and artisans. We believe a community is fortunate, uplifted, and prosperous if a thriving art organization is the cornerstone of its town and its people. The organization is open to all amateur or professional artists who take pride in their skills and are passionate about working together, thus finding support and camaraderie with like-minded individuals.
Scantic River Artisans is a growing and evolving gem, giving back to the community, embracing art and artists through exhibits and Interactive Learning Through Art presentations. A thriving Artisan Market Place at each show offers unique handmade goods and art pieces for sale.

Scantic River Artisans hosts four art exhibits annually, one of which is adjudicated. We exhibit works of “Oil”, “Watercolor”, “Acrylic”, “Pastel”, “Mixed Media”, “Photography”, “Sculpture”, “Glass Works”, “Wood Works”, and “Pottery”. We also hold six “Interactive Learning Through Art Events”. Every other month we showcase an art form demonstrated by a local artist; these events are open to the public and interactive, so each participant gets hands on instruction and leaves with their project.
These events help us to fulfill our mission which is to connect the community through diverse, dynamic, and creative experiences. SRA is dedicated to providing opportunities for local artists of all ages and skill levels to explore, develop, and market their creations. Through events and educational programming, Scantic River Artisans strives to foster the appreciation of visual art and aspire to raise awareness about the relevance and intrinsic value of the visual arts in our community. We have a passion for creativity!

We also recognize the value in supporting budding young artists and award scholarships to students in local high school art programs.
